چکیده

conclusions fortunately, due to its lower virulence as compared to its cousin s. aureus, pji due to cons may display higher remission rates than s. aureus-caused pji after combined surgical and medical management. results the main differences between the pathogens lie in the clinical presentation of pji, the presumed origin of infection, and the presence of a higher proportion of methicillin-resistant strains leading to a limited choice of antibiotic agents. evidence acquisition although both belong to the staphylococci genus, there are several epidemiological and therapeutic differences between s. aureus and the heterogenous group of cons. in general, however, preventive and therapeutic recommendations for prosthetic joint infection pji due to cons do not differ from pji caused by other pathogens. context staphylococcus aureus and coagulase-negative staphylococci (cons) are the most frequently isolated pathogens and are responsible for approximately two-thirds of joint replacement infections.

Neonatal Sepsis due to Coagulase-Negative Staphylococci

Neonates, especially those born prematurely, are at high risk of morbidity and mortality from sepsis. Multiple factors, including prematurity, invasive life-saving medical interventions, and immaturity of the innate immune system, put these infants at greater risk of developing infection. Although advanced neonatal care enables us to save even the most preterm neonates, the very interventions s...

Urinary tract infection due to coagulase negative staphylococci.

A survey of Staphylococcus albus urinary infections is reported from a general hospital. The infection followed urethral instrumentation in 75% of the patients, and was usually caused by organisms already present in the urethra. Novobiocin-resistant strains caused infections in four out-patients with no predisposing lesions or instrumentation of the urinary tract.

Dynamics of bovine intramammary infections due to coagulase-negative staphylococci on four farms.

The objectives of this study were to compare the impact of different coagulase-negative species (CNS) on udder health measured in terms of individual quarter milk somatic cell count (SCC) and duration of intramammary infection, and to get some insight into most likely routes of infection for different CNS species. This longitudinal observational study was performed on four farms that were sampl...

Biotyping coagulase-negative staphylococci.

The biochemical profiles obtained with Staph-Ident (Analytab Products, Plainview, N.Y.) panels were combined with the results of adherence and synergistic hemolysis tests to define biotypes among 1,064 clinical isolates representing eight species of coagulase-negative staphylococci. The 672 isolates of Staphylococcus epidermidis were aligned in 69 of 144 potential biotypes in our scheme because...

Coagulase-negative staphylococci.

The definition of the heterogeneous group of coagulase-negative staphylococci (CoNS) is still based on diagnostic procedures that fulfill the clinical need to differentiate between Staphylococcus aureus and those staphylococci classified historically as being less or nonpathogenic. Due to patient- and procedure-related changes, CoNS now represent one of the major nosocomial pathogens, with S. e...
